We often take great pride in our supposed ability to “read people”. We might take great pride in being able to judge the patterns, tendencies, states of mind, and long-term traits that a person exhibits. We think we are seeing them, and knowing them.
In actuality, we’re not. We’re actually seeing a projection of ourselves and our own framework in them. As the cliche goes, when we’re a hammer, all we see around us are nails.
There is a deeper, truer knowing. President Donald Trump resounded Truth in his recent speech in Ahmedabad, India, where he paraphrased Swami Vivekananda, who had stated:
“Moment I have realized God sitting in the temple of every human body, the moment I stand in reverence before every human being and see God in him – that moment I am free”.Swami Vivekananda
To truly see someone is to see the Divinity in them. A truly realized state is one where Divinity exhibit itself more salient than any of the psychological trait or quality we see in another.
Friend or foe, to truly know a human is to see the Divinity within them.
